About

Zoë Hartwick is a queer Vancouver-based artist and educator working and living on the unceded territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations in Vancouver BC. She graduated with a BFA in Visual Arts from Emily Carr University of Art and Design in 2017. Her artistic practice explores themes of mental illness and interpersonal connections, often with a focus on the human body. As a Museum and culture worker, they aim to increase accessibility, diversity, and inclusion in contemporary arts, operating under the fundamental belief that art is for everyone. 

Zoë works as the Education and Community Engagement Coordinator for the Centre of International Contemporary Art Vancouver where they are the visionary creator behind The CICA Creative Learners program, a gallery-led initiative to engage families in exploring contemporary visual art practices. If she isn’t busy hosting field trips and leading guided tours at CICA Vancouver, you might find her teaching art lessons at schools around the VSB as a guest artist for Thrive Youth’s Learn Create Explore Program, Designing catalogues for internationally renowned artists like James Jean and Ángeles Agrela, Hosting panel talks, or sketching her sleeping baby. 
Zoe Has previously lectured at the Vancouver Art Gallery for the Art Opens Experiences Members, as well as at the STEAM Days of Summer Professional Development Learning Program for BC educators.
